50th: Sr. Andrea Kruk (January 10), Sr. Bernadine Komar (May 1), Sr. Doloretta Shalagan (August 7), Sr. Lawrencia Semjaniv (July 11)
In Mundare, Alberta, on Saturday, July 17, 2010, the Divine Liturgy for our Jubilarians, Sister Naucaratia Hawryluk (80th) and Sister Celeste Diachynska (70th), was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Convent by Fr. Serafym Grygoruk, OSBM, pastor of Ss. Peter and Paul Parish in Mundare.
Later that afternoon, Sister Martha Zulyniak, Superior, warmly welcomed the 31 guests to the Diamond Jubilee celebrations held in the Green Room of the Convent. Sister Martha spoke about the virtues of each Sister, and then asked all present to sing “Bless the Lord, O my soul” and the “Magnificat” in Ukrainian as praises and thanksgiving to God and His Mother for His many blessings upon our Jubilarians.
Sister Martha thanked the Provincial Superior, Sister Theresa Slota, SSMI, for attending and not forgetting “us seniors.” Sr. Theresa read the greeting from the Superior General, Sister Janice Soluk, SSMI, and on behalf of all of the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate of Christ the King Province, thanked the Jubilarians for their combined 150 years of “serving where the need was the greatest,” in order to “ennoble the hearts of our Ukrainian Catholic people.”
A delicious home–cooked barbecue meal was served. Gift opening followed the dessert and fresh seasonal fruit. The Jubilarians, Sisters, family and friends enjoyed an afternoon of sharing and joyful thanksgiving.
Sisters Naucratia and Celeste wish to thank everyone for their greetings, cards and gifts — Masses, flowers and mementos. They continue to pray for each and everyone in their heart.

Having not been present for the above celebration, Sr. Bernadine Komar, SSMI, was fêted by the Sisters of her home, at the hospital Community. On Saturday, August 14, 2010, Srs. Valerie, Eugenia, Virginia and Cecilia celebrated Sr. Bernadine's golden jubilee privately, with a lovely dinner. Greetings were given by Sr. Valerie Krochenski, local superior, who presented her with a bouquet of golden roses.
In Winnipeg, the Sisters of Bethany home and 600 Cathedral celebrated the 50th Jubilee of Sr. Andrea Kruk, on Sunday, January 10, 2010, in the company of Sr. Andrea’s brother, Myron, sister-in-law, Ollie, and her sister, Irene.
Fifty years prior, on Sunday, January 10, 1960, after being attired in a postulant’s dress, Sr. Andrea was taken to Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, in Winnipeg, where a Moleben was celebrated at 5:00 p.m. and she was received as a postulant of Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate, soon to make her way to the Novitiate in Ancaster, Ontario. Now, as she celebrated her 50th Jubilee, Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak, OSBM, at 4:30 p.m. Precisely at 5:00 p.m. the Cherubim Hymn was sung. In his homily, His Grace mentioned many such comparisons of the two dates, 50 years apart.
Following the Liturgy, a scrumptious meal was served in the dining room. Among many gifts presented was a Blessing from Metropolitan Lawrence, for whom Sr. Andrea had worked many years in the Edmonton eparchy.

The Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate of the Toronto Eparchy celebrated the 50th Jubilee of Sisters Lawrencia Semjaniv and Doloretta Shalagan, on May 26, 2010.
Joined by family, friends and SSMI Associates of the area at the Provincial home in Toronto, Divine Liturgy was concelebrated by His Excellency, Bishop Stephen Chmilar, his Chancellor Rev. Roman Lobay, Rev. John Tataryn, and members of the Basilian Fathers, Rev. Boniface Malowany, OSBM, Rev. Matthew Drury, OSBM, and Rev. Basil Cembalista, OSBM. During Divine Liturgy, the Jubilarians renewed their commitment before the Blessed Sacrament. Following the service, Bishop Chmilar presented each with a certificate of congratulations, and the Sisters presented each with a bouquet of roses.
Refreshments were served in the dining room, with an opportunity to greet the Jubilarians, before a festive meal was served at the Crystal Grand Banquet Hall in Mississauga. At the banquet, His Excellency, Bishop Emeritus Cornelius Pasichny, OSBM, joined us for the celebration. As well as official greetings from Provincial Superior, Sr. Theresa Slota, Bishop Emeritus Cornelius, and the reading of greetings from our Superior General and others, a tribute to the Jubilarians was presented in a DVD slide show, which was given to each as a keepsake. During the open- mic greetings, Sr. Doloretta's brother, Peter, gave touching words on behalf of her family. Mrs. Maria Pshyk, a parishioner and friend of Sr. Lawrencia from Montreal, also gave moving words, in gratitude for Sr. Lawrencia's services and friendship there. Mary Sabat, SSMI Associate, also gave greetings on behalf of the Associates. Finally, our Jubilarians offered words of thanks and reflection on the gift of their vocations. A fine addition to the meal was a jubilee cake prepared by Sr. Lawrencia's nephew's wife, Slavica Gligoric.
