Blessed Josaphata,
pray for us!

PROMULGATION OF DECREES BY CONGREGATION FOR CAUSES OF SAINTS,
APRIL 24, 2001

In the Clementine Hall at the Vatican at 11:00 am, the decree recognizing a miracle through the intercession  of Venerable Sister Josaphata Horashevska was promulgated in the presence of the Holy Father, members of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints and the postulators of the respective causes. Cardinal Jose Saraiva Martins, prefect of the congregation, read a speech detailing the lives of the future Blesseds and Saints who, he said, radically lived the Gospel precept to "be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect."

Present to rejoice at this joyful and historic event was Superior General Sister Janice Soluk SSMI and assistant postulator Sister Bernarda Ivankio.  Postulator Sister Dominica Slawuta was unable to attend due to illness.

Sister Janice expresses heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the Sisters Servants to all those who through their prayers, support, devotion to Josaphata and financial contributions herlped to make this day a reality.

"Our Josaphata in heaven, like a true Sister Servant, is continually occupied.  Daily we receive letters thanking for graces received through her intercession."

BEATIFICATION OF COFOUNDRESS JOSAPHATA

Sister Josaphata was beatified by Pope John Paul II in Lviv, Ukraine, the place of her birth in 1919, during his visit in Ukrainian on June 27, 2001. Over a million witnessed this long-awaited event! Her first class relics -- a portion of her bone -- may be venerated in the chapel at the Provincial Home of the Sisters Servants in Toronto.

your consecration as a
